Sterling Silver and Motor Agate Fordite Necklace #2256

"THINKING OF YOU" 

Lapidary cut, multi-layered Motor Agate (Fordite) cabochon set in sterling silver. The salvaged and repurposed material set in this piece began as a hunk of cured auto paint overspray that was harvested from a major auto plant many years ago.

This piece has a beautiful, flat topped Type 1 Motor Agate cabochon: Color on color layers with primer layers.

This simple red white black and primer-grey cab, is set in a hand fabricated sterling silver bezel that has been given a mixed treatment of our signature mini-hammered finish on the pendant and bail.

As I was cutting this fordite piece, the image of a little floating heart was naturally emerging, as I was thought to lightly sand through the grey primer layer to find some better colors for the visible top layers. I stopped when I saw the heart, and carefully buffed it up to a finished polish, to prevent from polishing through it and losing the image.... 

The chain for this piece is a 20" round box pattern sterling chain with heavy sterling lobster clasp.
