Bronze and "Lauthite" Fordite Round Cufflinks #2270
$175.00
Lapidary cut, multi-layered "Lauthite" (Fordite) cabochons set in cast jewelers bronze cufflinks. The salvaged and re-purposed material featured in this pair is from an unknown industrial source origin, but was so beautiful, and looked much like automotive fordite so it had to be cut, polished and showcased!
This material originated from a pound sized chunk that was collected by a young girl in Minessota in the 1970's. Someone handed it to her off the back of a pickup truck in her neighborhood, and it resided in the family garden for decades as a conversation piece until recently...when it was suggested it become something else!
Beautiful, book-matched Type 3 (multicolor) cabochons - color on color layers.
This naturally patinated, red/brown raw bronze pair of cufflinks has been given our signature mini-hammered finish, and features fixed V-bar backs. Hand Signed.
Please Note: This natural bronze patina will continue to deepen in color with time. It is normal, and part of the beauty of this age-old treasured metal, used in fine art sculpture for centuries...
Head dimensions: 17.8mm round.
