Sterling Silver and Motor Agate Fordite Necklace #2234

$190.00

This unique necklace features a lapidary cut, multi-layered Motor Agate (Fordite) cabochon set in sterling silver. The salvaged and repurposed material showcased in this piece began as a hunk of cured auto paint, composed of many layers of overspray that was created as an incidental byproduct of the industrial process of spray painting cars!

More About It: This piece features a beautiful, low domed, Type 2 Motor Agate cabochon: Limited color on color layers.

This lovely fordite cab has colors in reds, white, blues, rust, taupe, silver and white.  It is set in a cast sterling silver closed-backed bezel that has been given our signature mini-hammered finish, and has two 3-D sterling feather components, oxidized to bring out their details, dangling from the bottom edges.

I am drawn to Native American motifs, and this particular fordite material lends itself to becoming jewelry which has that feeling for me.

This necklace chain is a 20" sterling silver rolo chain, affixed onto the pendant, and locking at the neck with a with standard spring ring clasp.

Pendant dimensions from top of bail: 37mm L x 25mm W. Hand signed on reverse.
